The 2006 British year set contains eight coins issued for circulation in 2006, namely: the two pound coin, the one pound coin, fifty pence, twenty pence, ten pence, five pence, two pence and one pence. Three of the coins are commemorative issues: the bimetallic £2.00 coin (KM.1061) commemorates Isambard Kingdom Brunel and depicts Paddington Railway Station, the £1.00 coin (KM.1059) depicts the Egyptian Arch Bridge, Newry, Northern Ireland and the 50p coin (KM.1058) commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross Medal, 1856 to 2006. The obverse design of each coin shows the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The coins are housed within a display that is held in a protection case, sized just over 17cm x 12cm. The display and case are in New/Mint condition and the coins are in BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) condition. The manufacturing process for the display includes a precision laser cutting method to create the necessary holes for the required coins to be inserted and held, safely recessed, in the correct position.
